My Gym My Way
Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026, updated October 15, 2026
The short version: My Gym My Way collects nothing. It has no accounts, no servers, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your equipment, workouts, history and body measurements never leave your phone. I, the developer, never receive any of it. The one outside service is YouTube, which plays the exercise videos.
Who this policy covers
My Gym My Way is an iPhone and Android app made by Preston Davies, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app does with your information. If you have questions, email preston5@protonmail.com.
What stays on your phone
The app stores these things only on your device, inside the app's private storage:
- Your equipment. The list of gear you own, used to pick exercises you can do.
- Your saved workouts. The workouts you generate or build and choose to keep.
- Your history. For each finished session, the date, how long it took and which exercises you completed. The app does not track reps or weights.
- Your body measurements, if you enter them. Your height and weight are used on your phone to calculate your BMI. They are never sent anywhere.
- Your settings. Your units, and whether sounds and the voice guide are on.
You can delete any saved workout or past session in the app. If you delete the app, your phone deletes all of its data.
If you back up your phone, the backup can include the app's data. That means iCloud or a computer on iPhone, and Google's Android backup on Android. Those backups are covered by Apple's or Google's own privacy policies.
What leaves your phone
None of your data. The app uses the internet in two cases:
- Exercise videos. Each exercise shows a demonstration video from YouTube, a Google service, embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you open an exercise, your phone loads the YouTube player. YouTube receives a normal web request, including your IP address and device type. If you play a video, YouTube may set cookies and record that the video was watched. The app does not send YouTube your equipment, workouts, history or measurements. Google's Privacy Policy covers what YouTube collects. Without an internet connection the videos don't load, and everything else in the app still works.
- The voice guide. Spoken cues in guided cardio use your phone’s built-in speech engine. They are spoken on the device, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- This website. Tapping the privacy policy or support link in Me → About opens this website in an in-app browser. GitHub, which hosts the site, receives a normal web request. GitHub's privacy statement covers its servers.
What the app does not do
- It does not collect any data for the developer or for anyone else.
- It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking tools.
- It does not track you across other apps or websites.
- It does not sell or share your data.
- It does not require an account or ask for your name, email or location.
- It does not ask for access to your camera, photos, contacts, location or health data.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Health information
The workouts, exercise demonstrations and BMI calculator are general fitness information for adults. They are not medical advice, and the app is not a medical device. BMI is a rough screening number. It does not account for muscle mass, age, sex or body shape. Talk to a doctor before you start a new exercise program, especially if you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant. Stop exercising if you feel chest pain or pressure, dizziness, or shortness of breath that is unusual for you.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will update this page and its effective date. Major changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
